Different than his father Willy and twin Marco, Koen was not around horses when he was young. He played soccer till he was 18 years old. When he was asked to handle stallions of Team Nijhof in the United States, he got involved in horses. He bought his first approved stallion Citango as a foal in the United States. And that was not the only one. He started buying young horses with the goal to train them as a sporthorse or approved stallion. Before he finished school, Koen was asked to work for Stal de Wiemselbach in Oud Ootmarsum as manager for the studfarm. After a couple of years he switched to Stal Eurocommerce but returned to Stal de Wiemselbach. In 2016 Koen started to work together with is parents and brother Marco under the company name Stal Brinkman.

Marco Brinkman

Partner: Monique Poelakker
Child: Dave
Birthplace: Deventer

I am born in the saddle like Marco likes to tell. As long as he remembers, Marco was riding ponies and horses. As a junior he started at the European Championships in 1999 with Jupiter (by Ekstein). They ended 4th with the Dutch team and 9th individually, the best Dutch rider. To gain experience in the horsebusiness Marco worked for Stal Hendrix in Baarlo in 2000 for one year. Than he started his own stable at the barn of his parents. One of the highlights in his career was wining the bronze medal at the WC in Lanaken with Ukato back in 2007.
